Our Story
The Legacy of TransRockies Race Series
For more than two decades, TransRockies has been in the business of building legends. From the high‑alpine crossings of the original TransRockies Challenge, to the singletrack sanctuaries of Singletrack 6, to the wild, wide‑open rock of Moab Rocks — we’ve carved out a reputation for events that don’t just go by, they stay with you.
We don’t just put flags in the ground. We craft experiences that push your limits, build community, and leave a mark long after you cross the finish line.
Enter the New Chapter: Desert Gravel
Now, we’re excited to turn the page and kick off the next chapter: Desert Gravel, formerly known as CO2UT (Colorado‑to‑Utah). Set in the epic terrain around Fruita, Colorado, and the Utah borderland, Desert Gravel brings the gritty grandeur of the desert to the TransRockies family.
The Story Behind the Ride
Back in 2020, event‑producer and avid gravel rider Morgan Murri launched the inaugural CO2UT. With a background in endurance sports and grassroots event building, Morgan looked across the “Grand Valley” and saw untapped terrain—roads that had been overlooked, vistas waiting to be ridden, and a community ready for something bold.
He crafted multiple route choices, invited women to lead the field through smart incentive programs, and built a culture of adventure from day one.
Passing the Torch
Today, Morgan is handing that baton to TransRockies. We’re honoured to carry forward the torch, together with Morgan and his local team, including Local Race Director Kevin Kane. We’ll retain the spirit of that first ride—dinosaur‑named courses, raw desert terrain, communal vibe—while applying the experience, infrastructure, and long‑term vision that TransRockies brings to our events.
Our Mission
To deliver a quintessential gravel experience, one that inspires through the ride, the terrain, the scenery, and the connection to community and place.
We believe gravel racing should be more than fast times—it should challenge you, inspire you, and leave you as part of something greater.
Our Values
Rider Experience & Safety
Land & Landscape Respect (we ride wild places—let’s leave them better than we found them)
Community & Inclusion (yes, we still want a 50/50 gender field)
Partner Integration & Sustainability
On Sustainability
We love the desert terrain, and we’re committed to stewardship:
Infrastructure built to last — reusable signage, markers, course gear.
Waste less, feed more — leftover food supports local food organizations, not landfills.
Local first — from coffee to course tape, we source locally wherever possible.
The goal? Less fluff. More impact. Simple as that.
